Born in the UK and grew up in between Suffolk and the Northern Beaches of Sydney Australia, Katya came to ballet at the age of 11 after being inspired by her musical family members.
Katya is a movement director, contemporary dancer and model working between Sydney and London. With her background in ballet and contemporary dance, she launched her professional career in Europe, performing internationally before expanding into the world of fashion and film.
Over the past four years, Katya has built a dynamic presence in the fashion industry, working with brands and publications such as FURLA, ISSEY MIYAKE, ZIMMERMAN, VOGUE Australia, VOGUE Scandinavia, ELLE Italia, ELLE UK, and Self Service, as well as the band The 1975. Her extensive experience as a model gives her a distinctive edge in movement direction, allowing her to bring fluidity, expression, and storytelling to high-fashion campaigns and editorial shoots.
In 2020, she founded Configuration Co., a nonprofit contemporary dance company dedicated to innovative movement storytelling. Whether directing models on set or choreographing for the stage and screen, Katya’s work is driven by a deep understanding of physicality, emotion, and visual composition.They trained and worked professionally in the classical ballet and contemporary dance worlds before being signed as a model. When Katya isn’t modelling she can be found choreographing, movement directing and amateur acting. Movement to Katya is about how one shape, form, gesture or expression interprets and embodies a feeling that can be emitted from performer to audience or page to person.
